  • October 30, 2014 - Congratulations to our Cross Country Team for heading down state to Regionals this weekend! Good Luck!
  • October 30, 2014 - Spine Tingling! - The clever 5th Grade Science classes were busy with their spine projects recently. The backbone of any 3-D spine project is research, good planning and materials that can well represent the spinal column. Once the spines were built, the 5th graders then presented their structure and function to their classmates. (What did the skeleton order for dinner?) ans: spare ribs!
  • October 29, 2014 - The Scholastic Book Fair - The Elementary School Book Fair starts today.  Please click SCHOLASTIC to shop online.  Be sure to make it out to the Book Fair that's coming Nov 3 - Nov 7 in the Elementary School Library.
  • October 29, 2014 - Drug Prevention Week - Middle School and Elementary School students are currently participating in Red Ribbon Week. There are lot’s of clever themes, costumes and fun prizes in honor of The Red Ribbon Campaign each day this week.
  • October 29, 2014 - The Accelerated Rehabilitation Center Hip Flexibiltity and Strenghtening Seminar at the high school has been cancelled this evening.
  • October 28, 2014Pecatonica Pacers 3rd and 4th graders once again ran this Fall.  The Pacers met every Tuesday and Thursday after school to run as many miles as possible. The Pacers had a successful turnout for their 2nd Annual PecPacer 5k (courtesy photos) Saturday, October 25. Over 80 runners participated and many more people were there as supporters, race marshals, and volunteers until 4:15 at the MS track. Pacers also hosted Friday and Saturday Family Fun Runs, as well. Thank you to everyone who helped make this season another great one.  Look for Pacers to start up again in April!

  • October 27, 2014P.A.W. - Pecatonica Aspiring Writers meets once a month to help ignite the imagination of our young writers.
  • October 27, 2014Pecatonica 3rd graders will present "A Spooky Delight" on Tuesday, October 28th at 6:30 p.m. at Pecatonica High School. Don't miss out on the fun. It's a "Thriller"!!!
  • October 24, 2014 - Pecatonica PTO - The PTO is hosting a teacher dinner during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 6, and would appreciate support from parents/community members. Please click here to see how you can help.  Thank you!
  • October 23, 2014The Pecatonica Fan’s Club is a committed group of parents and community members that manage and run high school concessions and use the proceeds to support the extracurricular departments throughout the school district.  Over the last 10 years, Fans Club has donated $250,000 to extracurricular groups at all three buildings.  For example, they have supplemented the Middle School Volleyball Program by purchasing two net systems over the last three years. Thank you to the Fan’s Club and supporters of the Fan’s Club for continuing to enhance our extracurricular programs.
  • October 23, 2014Pecatonica High School will be honoring our senior volleyball players tonight for their senior night against Orangeville. It will be a 6:00 pm FS start followed by varsity. The seniors will be honored between games. The middle school volleyball players will be in attendance to honor the seniors. Middle School volleyball players should wear their team t-shirts and they will be permitted free of charge. This will be for the players and coaches only. We are also in the middle of our annual food drive here at Pecatonica High School. If you bring in a non-perishable food item you will be given a ticket for a free hot dog or popcorn at the volleyball game.
  • October 23, 2014 - The Middle School Library gets new bean bags. The rule is that in order to sit in the new bean bags, students must be reading a book.
  • October 22, 2014 - Cheesie Mack Author Visits Pecatonica Elementary - An Illinois Bluestem Book Award Winner, Steve Cotler, is the Author of Cheesie Mack, a fun series of children’s books narrated by an adventurous 11 year old boy. Steve was invited as a guest speaker to PES on his recent Midwest Book Tour. His humorous approach to writing builds attachment with his young readers through which he presents valuable educational ideas. He impressed upon the 3rd and 4th grade students that “Every word that’s in the story is on purpose”. Thank you Steve Cotler for giving children a fresh perspective on writing.
  • October 21, 2014 - The PHS Fine Arts Festival is tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the high school commons.  Please come and enjoy the excellent performances of the band and choir students as well as the art work of our talented art students.
  • October 20, 2014Congratulations to Mariah McNamer! One of our PHS students Mariah McNamer has been named a finalist for her art work. Mariah submitted her original work of art to remind motorists of the dangers of tired, reckless drivers on Illinois roadways. She has now made the top 10 semifinalists.   • October 17, 2014Congratulations to the PHS golf team for a fine team performance at the IHSA Sectional Tournament in Morris, IL. They placed 6th out of the 12 competing teams with a score of 335. Erik Durand, Colin Jennings, Nicky Dzurisin, Garrett Owens, Alex Rosenberger and Cameron Hottman all made contributions to the team. Congrats to all for a fine season. Special congratulations also go out to Sophomore Erik Durand for his fine performance at Sectionals. Erik shot a 78, which was good for 5th place as an individual and gained him a trip to the state finals in Bloomington, IL this weekend. Congratulations and good luck, Erik!
  • October 17, 2014Jog-A-thon Takes Flight - Students, staff, parents, little brothers and sisters, and various community members came out on October 10 to participate in the PES and PCMS school fundraiser. Staff and volunteers tallied laps and provided encouragement to walkers, joggers, and runners. It was inspiring to see the great show of community support through exercise at our own high school track. Thank you for submitting money and sponsor sheets due today!
  • October 14, 2014Blue Shirt Day - October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, and STOMP Out Bullying created a world day of anti bullying. To signify its significance, the Middle School Student Council hosted a wear BLUE for Bullying Prevention on Monday, October 6. The middle school staff and students did their part to send a message to everyone to end bullying and cyberbullying. GO BLUE!
  • October 14, 2014Video captures the Spirit of Peace on September 11. Thank you Mrs. Goeken for collecting the day’s event in an inspiring Umbrellas for Peace Video to promote World Peace. 
  • October 10, 2014Bus Safety - Pecatonica district students were educated throughout the week on Bus Safety. They discussed safety practices and how to respond during an emergency. This was a good opportunity for students to ask questions and get familiar with bus exits and to be prepared. When sharing the road with a bus, please remember students could be crossing the street from either side of the bus and to ALWAYS stop when the stop arm sign is out. Thank you for helping us keep our precious cargo safe.
    October 10, 2014Fire Prevention Week - In honor of Fire Prevention Week, the elementary school students received important information on how to respond in the event of a fire emergency. Local emergency workers, along with Sparky the Fire Dog, set up a mock house to teach children about fire alarms, safety tips, checking doors to see if they are hot or cold before opening them, staying low to the floor to avoid smoke inhalation during evacuation, and establishing a meeting place in front of the house.   • October 8, 2014Congratulations to the Pecatonica Golf Team on the first ever Sectional Qualifier. The team finished second behind Stockton in the Eastland Regional held at Lake Carroll Golf Course. They will now travel to the Seneca Sectional at Nettle Creek Golf Course in Morris. They will compete on Monday, October 13. Congratulations and Good Luck!!! Go Indians!!!

  • October 6, 2014 - Making a Difference...There is power when committed people work together to raise awareness for whatever serious disease is knocking on the doorstep. Deciding to help is a personal choice whether it is through raising funds, wearing a t-shirt, or simply dreaming about a day that a cure is discovered. We sincerely appreciate the involvement of our school and community by participating in the following events:
    o  PES accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on September 3, to help bring awareness to ALS, a disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The whole school counted down and then students dumped buckets of cold water over their principal, teachers, and school staff members. (Click here to watch the video)
    o  HS administrators and staff accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on September 18, during the Homecoming Pep Rally in memory of our beloved bus driver Laurene Lizer.
    o  HS Volleyball Program hosts "Lavender for Lymphoma!" on the October 2, home volleyball game vs Aquin by wearing lavender to show support for those who have been affected by this cancer. Recently, Aquin student Dominic DeMichele was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma (This event was in place of the breast cancer awareness game). - Lymphoma photos courtesy of the PHS Yearbook.  
  • October 1, 2014 - PHS Yearbook Accepts National Yearbook Award! The Pecatonica High School Yearbook staff received the National Program of Excellence Award Tuesday, September 30 at the Jostens Yearbook Seminar.   
  • October 1, 2014 - PHS Golf Team - Good Luck at Conference October 2 and Regionals October 7!   
  • September 30, 2014 - Marj Herbig spoke to PCMS student council members about the dollar bill.  She gave each student an older style dollar bill and shared the intricate symbols and wording of the dollar.  Thank you to Mrs. Herbig for sharing her knowledge with the students.

This fundraiser provides support to our schools for many student and community events, staff programs, and classroom activities throughout the year!
