Welcome to the Pecatonica Elementary School website! We welcome you to check out our links to the left to find out more about the wonderful educational opportunities awaiting children at PES! Our learning community is proud of its dedicated teachers, committed educational support staff, and the best students in Winnebago County!

Individualized, child-centered instruction forms the bedrock of our educational experiences at Pecatonica Elementary School. With high standards for academic achievement, cutting-edge curricula inform the programming of PES. Home of a renowned Early Childhood and Pre-Kindergarten program, in addition to a remarkable full-day kindergarten program that creates readers, writers, and mathematicians, Pecatonica Elementary boasts countless resources for early intervention and a firm foundation for our early learners. With a balanced literacy program that targets instruction to the ability of the individual child, provides a knowledge base of spelling and phonics principles through systematic, strategic instruction, and instills a love for reading through the discovery of books of personal interest, PES students are well prepared for their futures. Our math curriculum offers learning opportunities that are second to none, stressing critical thinking, problem-solving, and mastery of basic facts and concepts essential for success. This commitment to quality instruction for our students prepares them for their future educational careers, in addition to instilling a lifelong love for learning. During their time at PES, our students blossom from apprehensive kindergarteners embarking on their educational journeys to confident, capable fourth graders ready for the academic challenges that await them after they leave our learning community.

Instilling in our students the tenets of our school pledge, “Pride in Ourselves, Excellence in Education, Community Awareness,” is an important responsibility that we here at Pecatonica Elementary School assume with a great deal of pride, awe, and wonderment. As the staff that introduces our students to the wonders of learning, we teach more than the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic. We guide our students on the beginning of their educational journeys to their future as leaders within our community and beyond. Teaching truly is the profession that creates all others, and all who touch the lives of students at PES readily embrace this awesome responsibility.

Please explore the website, which we hope will provide you with a valuable communication tool and a variety of resources to assist your family.

Sincerely,

Carrie Brockway
