Dear Parents, Students and Community Members,

The 2019-2020 school year will soon be upon us.  Teacher in-service training will take place on August 19 and 20.  The first day of student attendance will be on Wednesday, August 21.  The first day of attendance will also be a shortened day with dismissal at the elementary school at 1:35pm and at 1:45pm for the middle and high school. On Monday, August 19,  William Moore, a teacher of 15 years with an inspirational story about overcoming trauma, will be presenting to our staff about the impact of trauma on students.

Our buildings are ready,  and we are excited for the new school year to start.  We would like to welcome our new teachers Nina DeLaGarza (Early Childhood), Kelsey Brown (1st grade), Laura VanNatta ( 2nd grade), Lexi Kohout (Elementary Special Education), Megan Garcia (Kindergarten), Alyssa Miller (1st grade), Jessica Wagner (Chorus), Emily Leonhardt (High School Math) and Amy Dalke (Middle School Social Studies).  Crystal Brauer, the district’s mentor/mentee coordinator, welcomed the new teachers to the district during our August 5th orientation where they met with their mentor teachers and learned about our school district in preparation for the upcoming school year.

School buses will be out on the roads soon, making frequent stops, and students will be walking on roadways to their bus stops and to school.   We encourage all to be cautious and safe while driving near our students and near our schools each morning and afternoon.

Niche, an organization who builds a very complete, accurate and transparent school search tool on the internet, ranked Pecatonica School CUSD 321 at number 46 in the Best 50 School Districts in the State of Illinois (https://patch.com/illinois/across-il/illinois-best-school-districts-2020-rankings). There are 852 school districts in Illinois.  Providing our students with a great educational environment involves many factors.  Pecatonica students have the opportunity to succeed because we have our community’s support, parent involvement, and an excellent school staff.    We encourage our parents to be actively involved in their children’s education. A working partnership between home and school supports our students to be able to reach their dreams.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Bill Faller
