Last weekend, Pecatonica High School senior Onyx Whidby's artwork was featured in Rockford Art Scene, a two-day, biennial event hosted by the Rockford Area Arts Council. Both emerging and established artists receive invitations to participate in the event, and their artwork is displayed at dozens of locations in the Rockford area. Onyx had four original pieces on display for the event. The pieces she included were "Underwater Volcanism," "Mycelium," "Hungry," and "Lepidoptera," and each one showcased a different medium, including oil pastel, collage, ink print, and plaster. Onyx also had two of her ink prints available for purchase. Onyx is currently enrolled in Studio Art, an upper level art class taught by Jennifer Krantz. Way to go, Onyx! We can't wait to see more of your work in the future.
