Dear Parents and Community Members,
The second semester has started. We are optimistic that the vaccines will bring some sense of normalcy. Unfortunately, until that time we will continue to rely on the self certification and quarantining those who are within six feet and fifteen minutes of an individual who tested positive. We cannot reiterate enough how important it is to stay home if anyone is not feeling well.
It is our intention to go “remote” for any snow days where the weather makes it unsafe to hold in person instruction. At the elementary level, students will be given directions from their classroom teachers, and most teachers have already given their students this information in the form of a packet or activities to complete. Middle and high school students will have daily assignments placed in their Google classroom with due dates attached to each assignment. Teachers will be available to students online during the academic day.
All Illinois public school districts are mandated to follow the Governor’s directives related to participation in extracurricular activities. Currently, we are currently in tier three mitigation where any extra-curricular participation is prohibited. As we progress towards spring, the calendar will become increasingly more challenging to fit the various extracurricular activities. The Governor's Office, Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education have governing authority over Illinois public school districts. The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) does not. As a school district, we know and understand the positive impact participation in extracurricular activities has on our students. We hope our students will be engaged in extracurricular activities soon.
We are committed to student and staff safety. It is essential, in order for us to continue to stay open, that everyone continues to do their part.
