Middle School S.T.E.M. Projects!

Over the holidays many Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (S.T.E.M.) projects took place at the middle school.   Enjoy!

5th Grade Frozen Fortress Challenge - The 5th grade students participated in the Frozen Fortress Challenge  which included Popsicle sticks, marshmallows, toothpicks, pipe cleaners, straws and flower wire to make the strongest wall that would not fall when Mrs. Hoffman threw a big marshmallow at it. 😃

S.T.E.M - Mrs. Hoffman's 5th Graders were making the Biggest Snowman out of limited supplies. They were given only tissue paper, computer paper, straws and pipe cleaners. ⛄️

They also made the tallest tree out of the supplies they were given.  Gumdrops,  toothpicks,  pipe-cleaners, and cups. They all got a chance at each supply.

Amanda Lenox’s 8th Grade Classes worked on a Rocket S.T.E.M project before Christmas break and shared photos with us! The materials they used to design the rockets were pipe insulation, rubber bands, string & zip ties. They used the engineering process to design and redesign to improve accuracy. The meter sticks had a protractor attached to measure the angle of launch. It was very fun getting to launch rockets in the cafeteria!
